Associate Attorney, Litigation Defense

Job Title: Associate Attorney – Insurance Defense / Labor Law

Job Summary:
We are seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in insurance defense litigation, with a strong preference for candidates who also have labor law and trial experience. This position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload, handle litigation matters from inception through resolution, and work closely with clients, carriers, and senior attorneys.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle insurance defense matters, including general liability, labor law, and related litigation cases

Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and trial preparation

Represent clients at court appearances, hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and trials

Draft and review legal documents, motions, pleadings, and reports

Conduct legal research and develop case strategies

Communicate regularly with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and internal teams

Evaluate liability and exposure while providing timely case assessments and recommendations

Maintain accurate billing and case documentation in compliance with firm and client guidelines

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Active license to practice law in the applicable state

Insurance defense litigation experience

Experience handling labor law matters is highly preferred

Trial experience or strong trial preparation experience is a plus

Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and communication skills

Ability to independently manage a caseload in a fast-paced environment
