** About the Opportunity**

We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our established Virginia law firm at our main office in Richmond (Henrico). If you are an experienced litigation attorney with a strong interest in workers' compensation or you are an (soon-to-be) attorney looking for a rewarding career where you can make a positive impact while working on challenging and meaningful cases, we want you to join our team.

This is a long-term career opportunity for an attorney who values integrity, takes pride in their work ethic, and wants to be part of a collaborative team. Our most successful attorneys are true team players who approach their work with empathy and put the client first in every decision they make.

** Our Core Values**

Our firm is guided by the following core values, and we are looking for candidates who share them:

Integrity – We do the right thing, even when it's hard

Team Player – We support one another and work collaboratively

Good Work Ethic – We take ownership and follow through

Empathy – We understand that our clients are people first

Customer First – We prioritize clear communication and strong advocacy for those we serve

** About Us**

We are an established law firm serving clients across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our practice is built on integrity, collaboration, and a genuine commitment to helping injured workers navigate complex legal challenges.

** Key Responsibilities:**

Litigation & Trial Work: Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases, from intake through trial. Handle all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and trial preparation.

Negotiation & Settlement: Lead settlement negotiations, including preparing settlement proposals and working directly with insurance companies, defense attorneys, and clients to achieve favorable outcomes.

Client Advocacy: Build strong relationships with clients, providing guidance and support throughout the legal process. Ensure that clients feel heard, respected, and well-informed at every stage of their case.

Legal Research & Writing: Conduct thorough legal research on relevant statutes, case law, and regulations. Draft legal memoranda, briefs, motions, and other written work products.

Trial Preparation & Court Appearances: Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, and trials. Prepare witnesses, exhibits, and trial strategies to ensure a strong case presentation.

Case Management: Oversee case progress, manage deadlines, and communicate regularly with clients about their cases. Collaborate with your team to ensure timely and efficient case handling.

Mentorship & Development: Provide support to senior attorneys and guidance to paralegals, and support staff. Contribute to the firm's continued growth and development by sharing knowledge and expertise.

** Qualifications:**

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school or candidate planning to take the Virginia State Bar in Summer 2026.

Active license to practice law in Virginia or candidate planning to take the Virginia State Bar in Summer 2026.

Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of clients.

Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

A client-focused approach with empathy and the ability to handle sensitive cases with care and professionalism.

Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.

Self-motivated, driven, and results-oriented with a desire to achieve successful outcomes for clients.

Ability to lead staff, including legal assistants and paralegals.

** Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.**

** What We Offer:**

Meaningful Work: This is a rewarding opportunity to help people who are facing difficult life situations. You'll have the chance to make a real difference by advocating for workers who have been injured and are seeking justice and compensation.

Generous Compensation: Competitive base salary with the potential for significant performance-based bonuses, allowing for substantial earnings based on case outcomes and productivity.

Growth Opportunities: As a member of our firm, you'll have the opportunity to develop your skills, grow professionally, and advance your career. We encourage continuous learning and development.

Supportive Work Environment: A collaborative team environment with experienced mentors and staff who are dedicated to helping you succeed.

Work-Life Balance: We understand the importance of balancing your professional and personal life. We offer flexible scheduling and support to ensure you can maintain a healthy work-life balance.
