Associate Veterinarian

Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Small Animal Veterinarian (DVM) to provide comprehensive veterinary care to companion animals.

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and treating medical conditions, performing routine examinations and surgical procedures, developing treatment plans, and building lasting relationships with pet owners.

You will work alongside an experienced veterinary support team, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality patient care while contributing to the hospital's continued growth.

Flexible employment arrangements are available, including full-time, part-time, and rotational block coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Veterinary Care & Medical Services
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments of small animals.
- Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and medical conditions.
- Develop appropriate treatment plans and recommend preventive healthcare programs.
- Perform routine veterinary procedures, including vaccinations, wellness checks, and medical treatments.
- Conduct surgical procedures and dental treatments within your clinical scope and experience.
- Interpret diagnostic results and recommend appropriate follow-up care.
- Provide emergency and urgent veterinary care as required.
Client Communication & Relationship Management
- Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses clearly to pet owners.
- Educate clients on preventive care, nutrition, medications, and animal wellness.
- Build long-term relationships with clients through compassionate and professional service.
- Discuss treatment costs and ensure clients understand available care options.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with RVTs, Veterinary Assistants, and support staff.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to veterinary team members.
- Maintain accurate medical records and clinical documentation.
- Contribute to a positive, supportive, and collaborative hospital environment.
- Follow veterinary medical standards, ethical guidelines, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent recognized veterinary qualification.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO).
- Previous experience practicing as a Small Animal Veterinarian.
- Strong clinical examination, diagnostic, and treatment-planning skills.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively with veterinary technicians and support staff.
- Strong commitment to animal welfare and quality patient care.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in small animal general practice.
- Experience performing routine soft-tissue surgeries.
- Experience with dentistry and preventive veterinary care.
- Familiarity with diagnostic imaging and laboratory procedures.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
- Experience mentoring or supporting veterinary team members.
