About Client:
We build nuclear-powered datacenter campuses as an infrastructure platform for intelligence, health, and climate: low-latency AI compute with zero-water cooling, medical isotopes, and industrial-scale carbon removal. The company will scale 4GW, across site development, technology partnerships, and capital formation.
The Role:
The Chief Data Center Officer owns the physical product: every megawatt Client designs, builds, commissions, and operates. This is an A-to-Z delivery role covering the full lifecycle, from pre-construction and design through construction, commissioning, and 24/7 operations, across a multi-gigawatt campus pipeline. You will translate a first-of-a-kind platform (micro-modular nuclear power, high-density liquid cooling, vertical integration) into campuses that are delivered on schedule, on budget, and to hyperscale operating standards. Success in this role means campuses that energize on time, meet contracted SLAs from day one, and set the industry benchmark for speed to power, density, and efficiency.
What You Will Do
Own delivery A to Z. Lead the entire data center lifecycle: design and engineering, pre-construction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and steady-state operations across all campuses.
Drive the pre-construction phase. Own entitlements coordination, permitting support, utility and infrastructure interfaces, GC and EPC selection, and long-lead equipment procurement to compress time from land to energization.
Design the reference campus. Develop a repeatable, energy-integrated campus design that incorporates nuclear power delivery, zero-water liquid cooling, and high-density AI compute halls, and evolves with customer and technology requirements.
Run operations at hyperscale standards. Establish 24/7 operations, maintenance, physical security, and safety programs; own uptime, SLA performance, and PUE/WUE targets across the fleet.
Enforce cost and schedule discipline. Own capex budgets, construction schedules, vendor and supply chain management, and change control; report delivery status to the executive team and board with total transparency.
Build the delivery organization. Recruit and lead design, construction management, commissioning, and operations teams; establish playbooks, quality standards, and a safety-first culture from day one.
Support commercial and capital workstreams. Partner with the CRO on build-to-suit customer requirements and delivery commitments, and with the CIO and lenders on technical due diligence, independent engineering reviews, and financing milestones.
Integrate with power and technology partners. Work hand-in-glove with reactor, cooling, and engineering partners so that power availability, cooling capacity, and compute delivery stay synchronized.
What You Bring
20+ years designing, building, and operating data centers required***Need someone operated data centers including senior executive roles (CTO, COO, EVP of Operations or Construction) at a data center developer, operator, or hyperscaler.
A demonstrable track record of delivering hyperscale campuses end to end: site through energization through stabilized operations, at the scale of hundreds of megawatts.
Deep technical fluency across the full stack: electrical topology and MW economics, mechanical and cooling systems (including liquid cooling and high-density design), controls, commissioning standards, and mission-critical operations.
Proven pre-construction and construction leadership: permitting, GC/EPC management, procurement of long-lead electrical and mechanical equipment, and schedule compression in supply-constrained markets.
Operations credibility: uptime and SLA management, incident response, maintenance programs, and the discipline to run facilities that customers and lenders trust.
Experience with first-of-a-kind or energy-integrated builds; comfort making engineering decisions where no industry template exists.
Builder mentality: proven success creating delivery and operations organizations from an early stage through rapid multi-site scale.
Executive presence with customers, boards, lenders, and independent engineers.
Nice to Have
Exposure to nuclear, behind-the-meter, or other on-site power generation integrated with data center loads. Direct experience with liquid immersion or direct-to-chip cooling deployments at scale.Relationships with major GCs, EPCs, commissioning agents, and critical equipment OEMs (switchgear, transformers, chillers, CDUs).
International delivery experience (Europe, Middle East) as CLIENT expands its footprint.
Compensation
Competitive executive package including base salary, performance bonus tied to delivery milestones (energization dates, budget adherence, uptime), and significant equity
