Commercial Estimator

As a Commercial Estimator, you’ll turn construction drawings and project requirements into clear, reliable cost estimates. You’ll review plans, assess material and labor needs, and coordinate with clients and project teams to support informed project decisions. Your construction experience and attention to detail will help keep estimates practical, competitive, and aligned with project scope.

Duties

Review construction drawings and technical documents, including blueprints, to identify scope, quantities, and material requirements.
Prepare commercial construction estimates, project budgets, pricing, and cost forecasts; support cost management and cost control.
Use estimating software and spreadsheets to organize takeoffs, compare costs, and document assumptions.
Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to clarify requirements, discuss pricing, and support negotiation.
Coordinate estimating activities with project management and construction management software to help projects move smoothly from bid to delivery.

Experience

Construction estimating experience, including estimating for commercial construction; experience managing projects as a construction estimator is valuable.
Construction industry experience and construction site experience are preferred.
Ability to read blueprints, review construction drawings, interpret technical drawings, and estimate material requirements from plans.
Familiarity with estimating software, construction management software is an asset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and spreadsheets, plus strong cost management, pricing, client communication, and negotiation skills.
