Senior Mechanical Designer

An established employee-owned consulting engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join its Ottawa team. The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of mechanical building systems across healthcare, institutional, commercial, and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
• Prepare mechanical drawings, schematics, and details using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers for technical information and pricing.
• Assist with specifications and project documentation.
• Participate in site investigations, measurements, and verification of existing conditions.
• Support construction administration by responding to RFIs and reviewing shop drawings.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other building disciplines.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• 5–10+ years of relevant mechanical building systems design experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, construction practices, materials, and methods.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, contracts, and related documents.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with electrical building systems is an asset.
