Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and in a business-oriented manner to senior leaders and non-legal stakeholders.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.
Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or another highly regulated industry is preferred.
Must be comfortable working in an in-office environment in New York City.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigation attorney with 6–8+ years of experience who combines strong legal judgment with a practical, business-focused approach.
They should have meaningful experience handling commercial disputes, warranty/service contract claims, insurance-related litigation, consumer claims, and regulatory matters. The successful candidate will be confident managing outside counsel, evaluating exposure, controlling litigation costs, and advising senior business leaders.
Experience working within an insurance or other regulated industry would be highly valuable.
Simple Explanation of the Job
This attorney will be an in-house litigation expert.
When the company faces lawsuits, warranty disputes, consumer claims, commercial disagreements, subpoenas, or regulatory issues, this person will determine the company's legal position, develop the strategy, work with outside attorneys when necessary, and help business leaders decide the best way to resolve the matter.
The role is not just about going to court. A major part of the job is preventing disputes from becoming expensive litigation, reducing legal and financial risk, managing outside lawyers, and providing practical legal advice to the business.
Because this is an in-office New York City position, the candidate must be comfortable working regularly from the company's New York office.
