About the Opportunity:
A growing Alberta-based law firm is seeking a Criminal Defense Lawyer to join its busy practice in Medicine
Hat. This opportunity is open to both newly called lawyers and experienced counsel looking to build a longterm career in criminal law within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:
• Manage criminal defense files from intake to resolution
• Represent clients in bail hearings, trials, sentencings, and appeals
• Review disclosure materials and develop defense strategies
• Conduct legal research and draft legal submissions
• Appear regularly in Provincial Court and the Court of King’s Bench
• Communicate effectively with clients, Crown prosecutors, and court officials
• Travel occasionally to circuit courts across Alberta

Qualifications:
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta or eligible for transfer
• Interest or prior experience in criminal law
• Strong advocacy, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced setting
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
• Experience with Legal Aid Alberta’s Criminal Roster is considered an asset
